Quick Hits & Links: LeBron, Yankees, A-Rod, Amar’e

Everyone is talking about the effective of Amar’e Stoudemire in New York without two-time MVP point guard Steve Nash feeding him the ball. How will Nash do this season without a powerful finisher under the basket to feed?

LeBron James was not obligated to thank the fans in Cleveland. James gave the Cavaliers more than they gave him. Thanking his home town of Akron was all that was necessary.

Alex Rodriguez, Barry Bonds, Sammy Sosa, Rafael Palmeiro and Mark McGwire should all be elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. The hall is filled with bigots, ball players that never played against black baseball players, drug abusers, wife beaters and alcoholics. Why not add some cheaters to the mix? And if baseball writers and the hall are so against these steroid users, why is all their record-breaking memorabilia in the Hall of Fame?

Dwyane Wade, Chris Bosh, LeBron James and the rest of the Miami Heat will win the 2010-11 NBA championship. “They will never lose two games in a row this year, other 29 teams better hope the lockout gets moved up a year.” – Jeff Van Gundy on Heat.

As a die-hard Yankee fan, the Tampa Bay Rays scare me (A LOT!).

The Detroit Pistons signed center Ben Wallace to a two-year contract when his knees retired two years ago.

And last but not least…

Stoudemire Talks to the New York Media

Adios ‘Sheed

According to multiple reports, 15 year NBA veteran Rasheed Wallace has announced that he will be retiring this off-season. Although Wallace is known for his enormous number of technical fouls and outbursts towards referees, he was also one of the premier post players of his generation. Wallace was the best player on the Portland Trailblazers when they were a western conference heavy weight and about 7 minutes away from the NBA Finals against the Los Angeles Lakers in 2000. In 2004 he was traded to the Detroit Pistons and played a huge part in getting them into the finals, and upsetting the heavily favored Lakers. As Wallace’s skills diminished, he remained a good post defender and helped the 2010 Boston Celtics get back to the finals.

Unfortunately for ‘Sheed, his championship ring, four All-Star games and 177 playoff games will always be overshadowed by the short fuse he had when it came to the zebras. Wallace will be missed. “Both Teams Played Hard, God Bless and Good Night”.
